Once in-game head to the Options menu in Settings > Gameplay > Gamepad > Enable Gamepad. Open Steam Input again, set to Gamepad but edit the right trackpad to be a mouse with a left mouse click. If you have steam running you can go into settings and change the chord config for the steam deck controller. Win+Ctrl+o should open the onscreen keyboard. you can set that to x on the chord layout so steam + x will bring up the keyboard. Also there’s a mod to change to the better touch keyboard.
