Cav are 2 suppression per battalion, which is only 1000 manpower and 120 infantry equipment, 500 manpower and 60 infantry equipment per point of suppression. It'll actually cost you a lot more IC than light tanks because of the losses. Light tanks is definitely the way to go imo. You only need a handful of armor divisions for breakthroughs. I like 5-2-2 with 5 light/2 spg /2 mech (and go mobile warfare when you're doing 20w lights, only time it's better than SF imo)

On the main screen is a manage occupied territories button I think. set the garrison template to a cav or cav + mp unit. the game will automatically take manpower etc to fill out garrisons. armour, armoured cars (?) will reduce manpower losses of garrisons, but take valuable units.Since the system can use factions of a division it doesn’t change the amount of manpower needed. If you had a division with 1 cav and another with 25 cav it would still take up the same amount of manpower. So 25 is better since you only need one MP company for every division you send out.
